What is petite sizing?

The term “petite” describes clothing designed for women of shorter height, typically 5’4” (164cm) or under. Petite women can be curvy, slim, athletic - every body is different.

At Ava & Sable, we don’t simply make clothing “smaller.” Our pieces are redesigned from scratch for petite proportions, including sleeve length, rises, inseams, and overall balance - because petite women deserve clothing that actually fits beautifully too.

Our garments are designed with a relaxed, structured silhouette. You’ll likely find your true size already gives you that same comfortable, relaxed fit - size down only if you prefer something closer and more tailored to the body.

Not sure where to start? Grab a tape measure. Every brand sizes differently - there's no universal standard - so your bust, waist and hip measurements will always tell you more than the number on your last purchase.

Measurement Guide

Tip: Wear a non-padded bra when measuring bust for accuracy. Always measure while standing straight, relaxed.

A. BUST

Measure under your arms and across shoulder blades, around the fullest part of your bust. Hold one finger between body and tape.

B. WAIST

Measure around your natural waistline while holding one finger between body and tape. This is the smallest part of your waist.

C. HIP

Measure around fullest part of your hips (about 20 - 24cm down from waist) while standing naturally.

PANT AND SKIRT LENGTHS

Pants and skirts will vary in length depending on the height of each individual and also their shape. All pants come with a hem allowance allowing for easy alterations.
